Festival organised by Glastonbury Festivals Ltd (the ‘Festival’) and Q
These are important things you need to know...
1) The competition is open only to musicians based in the UK and Ireland who:
have not signed a contract with a major record label, or a contract with any label for more than one album.
”Major record labels” means Sony BMG, Universal, EMI, Warner and their subsidiaries.
2) Entries will be taken online only at Q4music.com. At the first stage of the competition we guarantee to listen to one whole track. (The judges will make the final decision as to the most appropriate venue for any artist to perform at in their discretion.)
3) The entry fee per band or artist is £10 plus VAT, totalling £11.75. This fee is non-refundable and will be used to cover the costs for running the competition, including the production costs of the finals. Any remaining funds will go to Glastonbury's chosen charities.
4) We will not be able to enter into any correspondence with competition entrants
5) By entering the competition you agree to:
- Any material submitted and any consequent live performance at Glastonbury Festival 2008 being broadcast on the radio/television without further consultation.
- Be available to perform at the competition finals as detailed in part 8
6) A team of judges will listen to all the entries, and compile a shortlist of 150. A panel will listen to these again until there is a shortlist of about 60 entrants.
7) From these the Final Judging Panel will select 12 entrants to invite to the competition finals. All entrants will be told whether they have been successful or not by Tuesday March 10th 2008.
The 12 successful acts invited to the finals:
- Will be told the day they will play by March 17th 2008.
- Will be paid a set fee of £150 for performing. The fee is fixed per act irrespective of whether a solo artist or a band with several members are involved.
- Must work closely with the Stage Manager, meeting all Health and Safety requirements, and must provide safe working
equipment.
- Must not exceed the given time slot of 20 minutes.
All finalists need to be aware that the finals may be recorded in both audio and audio visual formats and finalists must agree that the Festival can use the recordings in all media including but not limited to television, radio and the internet without further reference to or payment to them (subject to payment of any appropriate performance royalties paid by the PRS to its member songwriters).
8) The winner will be invited to play at the Glastonbury Festival 2008 and will be paid a fee of £500. They must agree to the normal requirements placed on performers on the main stages, namely:
- To perform at the time notified to them (for the agreed length of time);
- Agree to any filming or recording as required;
- Work with the Stage Manager to meet all Health and Safety requirements;
- Provide safe working equipment
- Provide one colour and one black and white press photograph, and one biography (one side A4), both pre-cleared for all media uses.
The Festival organisers will make every effort to ensure that the successful entrants perform at the Glastonbury Festival 2008. However the Festival may, in certain circumstances, have to cancel the performance without consulting the performer.
